Exceptionally fine English tantalus with three decanters in cut crystal from the 1880s.
The tantalus is made of oak with brass handles and fittings.

The three carafes are in a classic shape, square with ground glass and multi-faceted stopper.
They all have a fine cut star underneath and are in very good condition. They have ground numbers on the stoppers that match the decanters. This is only done on finer items in crystal, as the stopper and carafe are ground to each other. Two of the plugs have small dings, but nothing serious. The decanters themselves are in perfect condition.

They go so close to the bar that it has small marks where carafes go in, so there is no risk of the maid getting a small one during working hours.

The three bottle signs are in sterling silver, Port, Madeira and Sherry.

We have rarely seen such fine tantalus.
