A set of nine rinsing bowls with cups from Stölzle

Price: 1,500.- DKK per set

Bowl
Height 7.5 cm.
Diameter 14 cm.
Cup
Height 9 cm.
Diameter 6 cm.
Quite unusual set of rinsing bowls, consisting of cups and bowls.

The set is shown on page 27 at Stölzle's catalogue from 1878.

Normally, rinsingbowls are used to rinse your fingers when eating lobster, crayfish and other types of shellfish, but this set is for rinsing your mouth.

The cup fits inside the bowl and is filled with water, after which the water is spit out in the bowl again and the cup is put back on the bowl again.

The set is mouth blown blue glass, with polished edges on the bowls or heated edges on the cups. Based on the diversity of the sets and natural wear under the bottom, we estimate that the set is from the 1860s.

Unfortunately, all the bowls have minor or bigger chips. The cups are in perfect condition.

The price is for alle nine set.
